Since being married, there is always something that needs doing... whether it be dishes, laundry, overall cleaning, running errands, cooking, etc. etc. I'm sure that anyone reading this is thinking 'welcome to the real world', but I really do enjoy filling my time with productivity that benefits us as a family. While marriage brings responsibility, it doesn't bring the time-claiming guilt that studying/research/homework does. I was hardly ever a pleasant date for Michael in the dating and engaged period because, whenever we were together, I could not focus on anything 100% for the part of me that would always be worrying homework.
All this to say, we now only have one homework-free weekend. One! And even though there are thank you notes to be written and we are working extra hours, there is still a certain freedom to be enjoyed for the next week.
This past weekend, it seems that we took advantage of every moment possible to spend with each other and friends. We spent Friday night at a hotel downtown, which proved to be a relaxing time consisting of the following:
Recycle Ikea shopping bags for weekend bags |
Centennial Trail walk... also where we rode our bikes the first time we spent time together. What fun, awkward memories. |
Tried Seared Ahi |
I couldn't get enough of the ducks/geese! Along with all of the other 5 year olds downtown. |
We made sure to carve out time to discuss the Reverse Engineering outline found here in Real Marriage. |
Late breakfast at Madeline's |
Root Beer at Atticus |
Saturday evening we made doughnuts! Thanks to Jenni for the doughnut maker |
Maple icing made from scratch |
Throw in a wedding on Saturday, BBQ on Sunday, and that concludes our weekend.
Love to you all! We wish you could have been here with us. :)
